Edgewood ISD moves to full day Pre-K program

During their regular monthly meeting March 20, the Edgewood ISD Board of Trustees decided to move from a half-day to a full day Pre-K program.

Superintendent Andy Baker stated the district was very excited about the change. “We have monitored our Pre-K program and students for the last two years to determine their levels of preparedness for kindergarten and elementary school,” said Baker. “We believe that by moving to a full day Pre-K program, we will be able to provide a much stronger educational beginning for Edgewood’s 3 and 4 year olds. This stronger beginning should help these students throughout their elementary school years.” The change will take effect for the 2017-18 school year.

In other business, the school board election scheduled for Saturday, May 6 was cancelled. Originally, EISD had three people signed up to run for school board places #6 and #7.
