Attorney Josh Wintters speaks June 6 at the Van Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Recovery efforts and donations following the April 29 tornadoes that struck Van Zandt County were the main topic of discussion June 6 at the Van Area Chamber of Commerce Luncheon held in Van.

Attorney Josh Wintters, a member of the Van Zandt County Long Range Disaster Recovery Board, spoke to those in attendance about what has taken place since the storms and what lies ahead for county residents who were impacted.

Among those attending the luncheon were Texas House of Representatives member Dan Flynn and Texas State Senator Bob Hall.

“I do have the opportunity to work with various groups and I take those opportunities very seriously to do the things to help our community,” said Wintters. “There are a lot of needs in our community and one of the most recent needs came as a result of the storms April 29.”

Wintters spoke about the 11-person committee that he serves on concerning disaster recovery. “We meet every Monday evening at 5 p.m. in the old Canton City Hall location,” said Wintters.

Wintters, along with local singer Wesley Pruitt, was directly involved in the fundraiser concert in Ben Wheeler held May 28.
