Robert Olen Goodner

Memorial services for Robert Olen Goodner, 61, of Broken Bow, Okla. were held Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Glosup and Jeff Gibbs officiating. Mr. Goodner was born April 18, 1956, in Van Zandt County and went to be with our heavenly father July 9, 2017, in Paris.

He grew up in Van Zandt County where he raised his two children, Cassie and Coley, and eventually met the love of his life, Judy Goodner.  He went to work for Thomason Trucking of Broken Bow. The Goodner’s made their home there and have spent their years together enjoying nature’s beauty.

He was first and foremost a Christian who had an unwavering faith. He had a passion for life and enjoyed antiquing, woodworking and building things with his hands from nature's gifts. He loved being on the lake on a sunny day, playing games and spending time with friends and family. His favorite hobby was riding ATV’s.  He loved new experiences and everyone who met him felt his strength, kindness and genuine interest in knowing who they were. He had a quick wit and a brilliant sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh.

Abraham Lincoln said, “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” He made every day count and will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Olen Goodner and Geneva Dugan; brother, Larry Crowell; and grandmother, Jessie Phillips who many knew as “Ma”.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Goodner; daughter, Cassie Rushing and husband, Chris; son, Coley Goodner, stepson, Michael McMahan and wife, Olga; granddaughter, Sasha; brothers, Billy Crowell and Glen Dugan; sisters, Linda Walsh and Shirley Hall; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ronnie Arnold, Billy Crowell, Glen Dugan, Keith Fincher, William Garvin, David Gehrke, Kevin Nelson, Fred Reeves, Mick Roberts and Don Wycough.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
