100 years of reunions

On July 4th, the Will White family met in the Community Center in Van to celebrate 100 years of holding a family reunion. There were 68 people present during the reunion.

William Norten White and Joicie Ann Keahey White married in October1890.  As many did during that time, they had a large family.  In 1917, they decided the family needed to meet on July 4th for a reunion.

“The tradition has continued through the present day.  Although the past few years the family has chosen to meet in an air-conditioned Community Center rather than the front porch of the home place. But, this is Texas in July after all,” said family members.
