The world is changing at fantastic speed.  The future requires people who can problem solve, adapt and communicate in workplaces and environments that are increasingly complex.  The truth has radical implications for what and how we teach children.

A significant body of research over the last few decades supports this perspective, and acknowledges that creativity and other 21st century skills are critical for success in work and life. Recently a popular survey by IBM of 1,500 CEOs from 60 countries and 33 industries identified creativity as the “most crucial factor for future success.” Seventeen countries in the OECD, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, identify “creativity and innovation” as the number one competency.

The statements above come from the Imagination Foundation.  The Imagination Foundation was built upon the inspiration of ‘Cain’s Arcade’, a viral video about a boy who built an arcade from cardboard, to help children learn through creative play.  In 2015 the Imagination Foundation started 30 imagination chapters around the world.  In 2016 they launched 100 new chapters.  They are continuing to grow and are bringing imagination chapters to 150 new locations in 2017.

There are imagination chapters all around the world.  Bosnia, Vancouver, Cape Town, Melbourne, Manchester, and in the coming months we will be starting our own imagination chapter in Grand Saline.  Kelli Bryant, with the Grand Saline Public Library, was selected to host one of the new chapters starting this fall.
