The Edgewood Lady Dogs took to the court twice last week in District 12-3A play, falling in four sets to Eustace Sept. 29 before rallying back for a four-set win over Alba-Golden Oct. 3. 

In a battle of the Bulldogs last Friday night, Eustace took control early by winning both the first (25-20) and second sets (25-17) over their Edgewood counterparts.

Edgewood fought back in the third set, playing their best volleyball of the night to outscore Eustace 25-21.

Eustace roared back in the fourth set, responding to Edgewood's challenge by closing the match with a 25-15 run for the four-set win.

Edgewood finished with 36 kills against Eustace, led by Nicole Neal with 13, and Kenzie Smith and Tabitha Parker with eight each.

Parker paced the Lady Dogs with team-highs in both blocks (7) and digs (21), while Kate Farnsworth, Kenzie Smith, Katy Pool and Nicole Neal all registered aces in the loss.

Libby Martin was the top ball handler for Edgewood, finishing with 12 of her team's 29 assists.

Edgewood bounced back from their loss against Quitman with a four-set win over Alba-Golden Oct. 3. The Lady Dogs took the first set 25-11 and the second 25-13 for a commanding lead.

Alba-Golden narrowly edged Edgewood in the third set 26-24 before the Lady Dogs came back in the fourth to close out the match 25-21.

Kenzie Smith and Nicole Neal helped to lead Edgewood's offensive attack against the Lady Panthers, finishing with 15 and 14 kills respectively.

Six players finished with aces in the service game for the Lady Dogs, including Tabitha Parker with two, and Libby Martin, Kenzie Smith, Mady Bachtel, Katy Pool and Nicole Neal with one each.
