Wilburn Wesson Anderson

1923-2017

Services for Wilburn Anderson were held Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Hilliard Funeral Home. 

A graveside service followed at Providence Cemetery, Van Zandt County.

Mr. Anderson passed away Oct. 1, 2017, in Tyler at age 93.

He was born Dec. 17, 1923, in Cooper.  He had been a resident of Grand Saline since 1980, formerly living in Grand Prairie and Dallas.  He served honorably in the army during the Battle of the Bulge.  He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star among many other awards.  He worked as a welder and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Van.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Andrew Anderson and Mamie C. Watkins Anderson; and three sisters, Jane Jones, Billie Parker and Bobbie Guffy.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mildred Anderson of Grand Saline; stepchildren, Johnny Moore Sr. and wife, Maggie of Grand Saline, Linda Cottrell of Grand Saline, and Tony Moore and wife, Nancy of Rockwall; sister, Thelma Worley of Irving; grandchildren, Johnny Moore, Jr., Jasen Hilton and Clint Hilton and wife, Mary; and four great-great-grandchildren, Johnny Moore III, Clinton Dale Hilton, Matea Hilton and Clay Hilton.
