Lady Indians defeat Scurry-Rosser, Edgewood

The Grand Saline Lady Indians continued their push for a top two finish in district play last week, posting four set victories over both Scurry-Rosser and Edgewood to move into a second place tie in District 12-3A play with Eustace.

The Lady Indians opened play last week on the road, traveling to Scurry for a meeting with the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats Oct. 13.

A slow start gave way to a strong finish for the Lady Indians as the team stormed back from an early deficit to record a four-set win over the Wildcats.

Scurry-Rosser dominated the first set against the Lady Indians, cruising to a 25-17 lead over Grand Saline. The second set would be the closest of the night with Grand Saline evening the match by edging past Scurry-Rosser 27-25.

The Lady Indians closed play with a flourish, easily outpointing the Wildcats in the third (25-18) and fourth (25-15) sets to wrap up the four-set win.

Grand Saline coaches recognized Caitlyn Hamby as being the team's Player of the Game against Scurry-Rosser after she finished with eight kills, five digs, two assists and a block in the win.
