Darrell K. Wallace Barclay

Graveside services for Darrell K. Wallace Barclay, 87, formerly of Canton, will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton. Mrs. Barclay passed away May 2, 2017, in Whittier, N. C.

Born in Martins Mill to Joe and Ina Wallace, she lived in Canton until she moved to Phoenix, Ariz. She resided in Phoenix for the majority of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William L. Barclay, and sister, Elouise Mims.

She is survived by her husband Bill’s four children; 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Shirley Cook Lundgren

1931-2017

A memorial service for Shirley Cook Lundgren, 86, Elgin, was held Friday, June 16, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Elgin. Mrs. Lundgren passed away June 9, 2017.

She was born in Van to William Horace and Twilla Eva Cook. She was the youngest of eight children.

She graduated from Van High School and attended Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.  While attending UT, a hometown friend introduced her to Edwin "Sammy" Lundgren. Three weeks later they eloped to Texarkana, Ark. Sammy was the love of her life for 66 years; they were one month away from celebrating their 67th anniversary.

The Lundgrens were blessed with five beautiful children. The hardest thing was losing three children, Greg, Nancy Hoyt, and Bradley.

Services for Finnis Lee Gordon, 77, of Canton, were held Thursday, June 15, 2017, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Truett and Bro. David Yarbrough officiating.  Interment followed in Turner Cemetery in Emory. Mr. Gordon passed away June 11, 2017, in Athens.

He was born May 2, 1940, in Emory to Homer Finnis and Vertis Onita Meek Gordon.

He was was a member of Brookside Baptist Church, the Hereford Cattle Association and the Union Local #745.  He was a truck driver and farmer. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Edward Gordon; and a grandson, Corton Thomas Brown.

Memorial services for Christina Long-Mays, 36, Canton, were held Sunday June, 11, 2017, at Grace Bible Fellowship Baptist Church in Canton with Bro. Dan Tarno officiating. She passed away June 7, 2017, at her home.

She was born May 26, 1981, in Irving. She was above all an awesome mom and loving wife. She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. She was a loyal friend and a strong challenger of injustice to her loved ones. She was a wonderful waitress at her family's restaurant, Down Home Cafe. She owned her own business, Christi's Crazy Creations. She loved music, dancing, singing and fishing.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Bamburg Long; grandparents, Faye and A. D. Bamburg, Charles and Linda Long, and George and Annette Kinzer.

Services for Bill Brand, 75, of Grand Saline, were held Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Riverside Mission Church with Bro. Donnie Herring officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Interment followed in Starr Cemetery. Hel passed away June 7, 2017, at his residence in Grand Saline. He was born May 26, 1942, in Kaufman County to Elmer and Dorothy Garrett Brand. He was an avid fisherman and lived most of life in the Grand Saline and Fruitvale area. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia “Dink” Wheeler Brand; and son, James Ray Brand.
