Funeral services for Edgar Ray Bailey, Jr., 78, Wills Point, were held Monday, May 29, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Edgewood.  Burial followed at New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Bailey passed away May 26, 2017, at his home.

He was born April 25, 1939, in Wills Point to Edgar Ray Bailey, Sr. and Delia Canant Bailey. He was raised in Edgewood and graduated from high school in 1957.  He married Rita Simmons Aug. 3, 1957, in Oklahoma. The Bailey’s moved to Mesquite, where they lived most of their life.  He was a supervisor for Ashler Construction Company.  In 1992, they moved to the Bailey home place to be closer to their family. 

He was of the Baptist faith and occasionally attended Turner Hayden Baptist Church in Wills Point. He loved bass fishing, deer hunting and camping with his family.

Carl Ervin Rea, 86, put on immortality on May 23, 2017.  He was born Jan. 21, 1931 to William Carlus and Annie Bell Rea.  Services were held Friday, May 26, 2017 at Heitts-LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.  Interment was at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.

Archie F. Gandy

Archie F. Gandy

1928-2017

Memorial services for Archie F. Gandy, 88, Seagoville, were held Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Benny Craft and Bro. Troy Watson officiating. Interment followed at Payne Springs Cemetery. Mr. Gandy passed away May 25, 2017.

He was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Payne Springs to Felton and Ruby Gandy of Eustace. He married Alice Charlton in Brenham Sept. 19, 1981.

He was a truck driver for 54 years and covered 48 states. He owned Archie’s Sand & Gravel until 2002.

He was Baptist by faith and was ordained as an evangelist May, 17, 1998, at Bethel Baptist Church in Seagoville. He was very active in church until his health declined.

His is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Gandy; and sister, Charlene Gandy.

William Wynn, III

William Wynn, III

1956-2017

William G. (Billy) Wynn, III, longtime resident of Elmo, closed his eyes on earth only to open them in Heaven on the morning of May 10, 2017. 

He was surrounded by his devoted family and while they will miss him greatly, they are comforted by the words of Paul in 2 Cor. 5:8 “that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”.  He was met in Heaven by his Savior as well as by his father, William Wynn, Jr., and his brother, Quentin Wynn. 

Mr. Wynn was born Oct. 31, 1956 in Hollywood, Calif. to William, Jr. and Mildred (Ballard) Wynn and he moved to Texas during his younger years.  One aspect of him that everyone who met him recognized immediately is that he loved to work and was always active.

Memorial services for Terry “Nanny” Tarver, 88, of Wills Point, were held Friday, May 12, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Mark Turner officiating.

She passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in Wills Point. 

Mrs. Tarver was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Seneca Falls, N.Y., the daughter of Ralph Guaracci and Catherine Rotella Guaracci.  She was raised in Niagra Falls, where she attended school.  On Jan. 20, 1961, she married O.J. Tarver. 

She moved to Wills Point 48 years ago from Dallas.  She was employed by MacBee Water Supply for 25 years, retiring in 1999.  After retirement, she worked at Bruce & Human Drug Store for 10 years.

Patsy Runnels McBay

Patsy Runnels McBay

Patsy Runnels McBay, 84, formerly of Willow, Okla., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family May 10, 2017.

She was born March 28, 1933, in Weinert to Raymond and Wilmoth Runnels.

She was a surgical nurse for many years and took special training at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md. 

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, JR and Clay.

Juanita Alexander Jamieson

Services for Juanita Alexander Jamieson, of Wills Point, were held Saturday, May 13, 2017, under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Interment followed in White Rose Cemetery. Mrs. Jamieson passed away May 11, 2017, in Lufkin.

She was born Aug. 9, 1925, in Wills Point to Robbie S. and Mary Deen Alexander. She graduated from Wills Point High School in 1942 and attended Rutherford Business School in Dallas.

 She worked for the Department of Navy in Washington D.C. during World War II. After the war, she worked for a number of banks including The Mercantile National Bank in Dallas, The First National Bank in Wills Point, American National Bank in Terrell, and then returned to the First National Bank in Wills Point in 1987 where she retired after 22 years.

Memorial services for Jo Munns, 93, of Wills Point, were held Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Wills Point Church of Christ with Mr. Dan Carter and Mr. Ken Maddox officiating. 

Interment followed at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home. Mrs. Munns passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, in Wills Point.

She was born May 19, 1923, in Sweetwater to Mathew Hines Hendley and Bertha Myrtle Carter Hendley. She was raised in Sweetwater where she attended public school. She married Cecil Elbert Munns March 22, 1946, in Rockwall. She lived in Pleasant Grove before moving to Wills Point in the early 1960s. She was formerly employed by Southwestern Bell, Western Electric and was owner-operator of Countrymen’s Café in Wills Point. She was a member of the Wills Point Church of Christ.

Jarvis Eugene Pickens

Jarvis Eugene Pickens

Services for Jarvis Eugene (PeeWee) Pickens, 63, of Canton are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Canton.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.

Mr. Pickens passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, in Tyler. 

He was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Canton to Jarvis Lee and Nettie LaVesta Potts Pickens. 

He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He grew up in Canton where he attended the Wynne and Canton Schools.  He worked at Mr. Peel’s Mobil Station, at his father’s tire shop and for Henry Lewis.  He was a funny man.  He loved the Lord and enjoyed singing and testifying.  He loved his sisters and brothers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis and Nettie Pickens, and a sister, LaVesta Pickens.
