Members of the Canton 7 on 7 Football Team, which finished its season with a 6-1 record, included Bryce Sanford, Bret Branson, Lane Nace, Colton Williams, Roy Denbow (assist. Coach), Nick Hobbs, Connor Eiland, Chandler Eiland, Coach Barry Smith, Reese Sumner, Ryan Slider, Dakota Hesskew, Cade Warren, Brazos Hesskew, and Garrett Denbow.

The Canton 7 on 7 Football team recently competed in the Fox Southwest Texas State 7 on 7 Tournament in Bryan/College Station on July 19-20.

The team went undefeated in Pool Play, winning against Greenwood (Midland) 28-19, Academy 33-25, and Boerne 34-33. Canton qualified for the Championship Bracket and won against Carthage 33-14 and Bullard 31-26 before losing to Navasota in the quarterfinals (34-46).

The 6 and 1 record makes it Canton’s best showing ever at the State tournament. The team anticipates their success to carry over into the Fall football season and encourages everyone to come out and support the Canton Eagles this upcoming year.

Eric Walters led the way with a 73, earning him the first place individual medal. Sam Huddle and Stephen Malouf both came in at 76, Brock Bozeman shot 98, and Ryan Huddle had a 91.

The team form Lindale was second, with a 334, while Martins Mill shot a 336, and Wills Point came in with a 337.

For Martins Mill, Jackson Latimer shot 77; Donald Jackson 88; Hunter Bennett 85; Will Schneider 86; Payton Williams 86.

The Canton JV came in sixth place with a 360. Team members are Blake Reese (91), Garrett Barr (86), Austin Mefford (86), Kyle Dennie (97), and A.J. Callaway (107).
