Council To Meet In Special Session Friday

Van City Council will hold a special meeting Friday at 2 p.m. to take up two matters that were tabled from last Thursday’s regular meeting.
The council will consider a possible franchise fee as part of a right-of-way agreement with Peoples Telephone Cooperative.
In addition, the council will hear from Mike Brown of Government Capital Securities for a proposal to retain the company as placement agent for refinancing the 2000 series water and sewer bond.
In other matters during the Nov. 8 meeting, the council took the following action:
Approved an outside city limits water tap request by Judson Moore.
Tabled a discussion brought up by resident Don Savage regarding water billing cut-off procedures. Savage was not present at the meeting.
Tabled action on a resolution for a hazard mitigation action plan until a presentation with Van Zandt County Emergency Management Coordinator Chuck Allen can be scheduled.
Heard a brief report from Van Volunteer Fire Department Chief Jeff Hudgens on cost recovery collections.
Received an information-only item on the city’s contract with with certified public accountants firm Yeldell, Wilson and Co.
