Fire Temporarily Shuts Down Van Day Care

By Julie Vaughan
No one was injured Sunday afternoon when the Little Vandal Day Care Center, located on Farm-to-Market 314, caught fire. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Chuck Allen said the fire is still under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature and started in a “resource/store room” in the center of the day care.
The facility suffered extensive fire, smoke and heat damage, and will be closed until further notice.
Parents who may need information on the status of the day care are urged to contact Julie Jackson at (903) 590-0035, according to a press release.
The release went on to say that as of Monday, “The day care center stated that they believe that they have contacted all the parents of children that are currently enrolled…”
They have an enrollment that fluctuates between 50-60 children each day.
The fire is still under investigation.
