Man Arrested On Sexual Assault Charge

MYRTLE SPRINGS—A Hunt County man is behind bars being charged with aggravated sexual assault.
At around noon on Tuesday, the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of aggravated sexual assault of an adult female victim near the community of Myrtle Springs.
According to a press release from the VZCSO, “The victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle and a concerted effort by area law enforcement officers to locate the vehicle proved unsuccessful. Through investigative efforts, deputies were able to identify a suspect and a search warrant was issued for a residence in rural Hunt County.”
Shortly after midnight, Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Investigators from the Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and Troopers with the Texas Highway Patrol, travel to the 2,000 block of Payne Street in rural Hunt County and executed an evidentiary search warrant and a felony arrest warrant for Christopher Lee Pruitt, 29.
Pruitt is a registered Texas Sex Offender and was arrested by the officers without incident.
“The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office subscribes to the policy of ‘Maximum Impact on the Criminal Violator.’ This is an example of how hard work, long hours and dedication to the law abiding citizens of our community, and effective law enforcement networking, enables us to identify, locate, and bring to justice those individuals who choose to harm our citizens and violate our laws,” Van Zandt County Sheriff Michael Lindsey Ray stated.
“We will continue our efforts, and use all available resources to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Van Zandt County and do all we can to stop this kind of activity,” Ray continued.
