Services for John Lincoln Broughton, 90, Balch Springs were scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Hilliard Funeral Home Chapel, Van, with Rev. Jack Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in Cox Cemetery, Canton.
Mr. Broughton died June 8, 2008 in Mesquite.
He was born November 5, 1917 in Brownwood to Samuel and Isabelle Huffman Broughton. He was a resident of Balch Springs for the past three years, formerly living in Canton and Wills Point. He was a member of Hickory Tree Baptist Church in Balch Springs and was licensed to preach. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1981, where he worked as a letter carrier. He also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and World War II, and traveled as a speaker for Texas Alcohol Narcotics Education for more than 20 years.
He was preceded in death by son, Dennis Chennault, in 2007; his parents; and six brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Broughton, Balch Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Leora Chennault, Barryville, Ark.; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and James Knox, Mesquite; brother, Walton Broughton, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Amy Travis, and husband David, Holly Darr, and husband Vance, Johnny Benn, Adam Chennault, and wife Blair, Mark Chennault, and wife Rita, and Lisa Gajedica, and husband Carey; great-grandchildren, Kelly Travis, Clayton Travis, Austin Travis, Allison Darr, Amber Darr, Tony Chennault, Dillon Chennault and Megan Gajedica.
