Local Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident

A Canton man lost control of the motorcycle he was driving Sunday afternoon, and was killed on Van Zandt County Road 2106.

James Tracy Bowman, 27, was transported to Cozby-Germany Hospital in Grand Saline where he later died.

According to Department of Public Safety reports Bowman was driving a 2006 black Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle "at a high rate of speed" eastbound on VZCR 2106 when he lost control of the motorcycle and came unseated from it.

DPS Trooper Brady Lunceford’s report stated that the "driver slid for approximately 100 feet and came to rest."

The report went on to state that, "several people in the neighborhood did not see the crash but advised they heard the motorcycle revved up high and it sounded as if the driver was traveling extremely fast."

Lunceford was assisted by Corporal Terry Jackson and Trooper Damon Williams.
