A juvenile who was charged with capital murder in connection with the November 2007 death of her mother, Pamela Kay Fincher, 37, Wills Point, will stand trial for the crime as an adult.
Mrs. Fincher was found dead in her home on November 15, 2007. She had suffered a gunshot wound.
Brooklyn Kay Fincher, 17, Wills Point, was charged with the crime after she and another suspect, Christopher Lee Burt, 19, were apprehended at Wills Point High School the day after Mrs. Fincher’s death.
The suspects were in a truck which was missing from the crime scene and a firearm was found in that vehicle which police believed at that time to be the murder weapon.
The pair was originally booked on a charge of carrying a weapon onto school property but after questioning, both were charged with capital murder. Burt was questioned and charges against him dropped.
The decision for Fincher to stand trial as an adult was made during a hearing held in Judge Teresa Drum’s 294
th District Court last Friday.
Fincher is currently being held in the Van Zandt County Jail on $150,000 bond.
