Two Men Arrested On Felony Drug Charges

Two men were arrested and are facing felony drug charges after police officers executed a search warrant at 119 E. Florida St. in Van.

Leroy Leija, 29, Tyler and Troy Brown, 22, Van were both taken into custody last Tuesday night after officers found methamphetamines, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the Florida St. home.

According to a report by officer Preston Roberts, he had been observing the residence on suspicion of selling drugs for about one month and on the night of May 13 stopped a vehicle at 119 E. Florida for failing to signal a turn. The occupants of that vehicle were Leija and Brown.

After checking the drivers license and warrant status of both suspects, it was found that Leija was wanted out of Smith County for possession of marijuana. He was immediately taken into custody.

Roberts questioned both suspects and Brown gave him permission to search the vehicle. Two plastic bags which tested positive for meth were found in that vehicle.

The report went on to state that after more information was obtained from the suspects, a search warrant was obtained for the address.

Leija and Brown were transported to the Van Zandt County Jail. Both suspects posted bond and were released.
