Canton Golf Teams Win District Title
Both the Canton boys and girls golf teams captured district titles, with the girls outpacing second-place Athens by 190 strokes, and the boys finishing ahead of Brownsboro by 13.
The girls improved on their first-day total of 418 by shooting a 410 on day two, for a total of 828. Athens shot 515 and 503 for a total score of 1018.
The girls also swept the top three individual spots, as Jordan Bozeman captured the individual title with rounds of 92 and 82. Natalie Mann followed her with a two-day total of 207, and Kaitie Gummelt was third with 223.
The boys also held a thirteen stroke lead after the first day, shooting a 327, and maintained that lead with another round of 327, which was matched by second-place Brownsboro.
David Eubanks placed led the way for the Eagles, placing second with scores of 77 and 76.
The two teams will advance to regionals, which will be in Pottsboro at Tanglewood Resort, on April 21-22.
