Woman Flown To Dallas After Pursuit And Crash
A 22-year-old Quinlan woman was taken to the parking lot of W. H. Ford High School by American Medical Response ambulance as the Quinlan Volunteer Fire Department prepared a landing zone for a Life Star helicopter Friday night.
Quinlan Police Officer David Arndt said, "A 2007 orange Yamaha motorcycle driven by Anica Hernandez, age 22, of Quinlan was eastbound on State Highway 276 near Spur 264 and was under pursuit by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Clayton with speeds in excess of 92 miles per hour.
"The driver attempted to slow down to avoid another vehicle and left 260 feet of skid marks. Hernandez struck a 2007 black Ford focus driven by Ashley Coones, age 21, of Quinlan and slid an additional 130 feet before coming to a stop," Arndt said.
Area emergency responders were notified of the accident at 10:27 p.m. Friday.
Hernandez was flown to Parkland Hospital of Dallas with broken bones, road rash and possible other injuries.
The roadway was shut down for about 20 minutes as the roadway scene was investigated and later cleared by Lone Oak Wrecker.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Quinlan Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety. There were no other injuries in the accident.
